Congressman Ron Paul is considering using $4 million left over from his presidential campaign to start a for-profit publishing company that would reflect his Libertarian-leaning views. The move could test the limits of federal campaign finance rules. Federal guidelines say the money can't be used for personal things like vacations and mortgage payments, but it's not clear if he could use the money for a company that would produce educational material. It should be interesting to see if this book really will come out in the future.
Paul still has a lot of support. Paul received numerous standing ovations during his speech to a record crowd at the Nevada State Republican Convention in Reno on April 26th. During his speech, Dr. Paul encouraged the attendees to continue efforts to return the Republican Party to its traditional message of limited government, fiscal
responsibility, and protection of personal liberties. He also encouraged his supporters to bring more people into the party. Other than that, paul has been working hard as a congressman and running for re-election as well.

Ron Paul: The Brave One
With regards to the recent protests against China's history of human rights violations including its current imprisonment of Tibetan demonstrators, the House passed a resolution on April 10th that condemned and called on China to release the Tibetans. The resolution was passed 413-1, with the only opposing vote being that of Congressman Ron Paul. Paul continues through his voting record to clearly demonstrate his lack of fear of standing up for what he believes in. Passing such a resolution really does not solve anything; there are not any laws being made, nor can there be ones that impact China's laws. Such a political action only allows the congressmen to express their human rights worldview and does nothing but widen the gap between the two countries. Paul proved to be the only one brave enough to stand up against every other Member and suggest the best step that can be taken are to talk with China.
In other news, Paul was also recently awarded the deserving 2007 "Taxpayer's Friend Award" by the National Taxpayer's Union.

Is Paul still in the race?
Despite John McCain's nominee for the republican party, Ron Paul seems to be continuing his vain campaign and refuses to endorse McCain. Instead, when we thought that this year could not get any stranger, Paul has be rumored to endorse Libertarian candidate Representative Bob Barr of Georgia. The 72-year-old Paul's campaign -- he's the only survivor beyond McCain of 11 Republicans from last year -- surprised many political observers with its financial potency. Some 800,000 eager and energetic voters, many of them new to politics, have given him in excess of $32 million in the last year, nearly $20 million of it in the last quarter of 2007, to make him the largest GOP fundraiser then. They developed a whole range of creative ideas to arouse political support, including a pinup calendar of nearly naked hotties4RonPaul (you should check this out haha jk).
In other stanger news, Paul has finished filming a science fiction movie in Japan, according to Liberty Sci-Fi Magazine. The movie "Release the Karaken" is part of the Japanese Monster Movie genre of films, in which giant creatures attack Japanese cities. A Japanese film maker sent Paul a screenplay earlier this year, and the Republican Congressman liked it so much he decided to wind down his presidential bid last month so he could star in it. On a side note I am not sure if this is real, but it was too funny and wierd to keep out of this post.
While Ron Paul continues to stay in the race he is campaigning in Pennslyvannia and not many people have continued to support him financially. I think he should start thinking of dropping out!

Paul Update March 2-9
On the 4th, Forbes.com released an op-ed written by Paul. Among other things regarding this country's economy, Paul noted that he "believe[s] that for our economy to be secure in the long term, Congress must reassert its authority and end the unconstitutional Federal Reserve." On the 6th, Paul released a video addressed to his supporters. In the video, Paul thanked them for their "enuthusiasm and hard work," while saying that "elections are short term efforts, revolutions are long term projects." Furthermore, Paul announced that he hopes that this revolution will continue but not as the "Ron Paul Revolution," suggesting an end to his presidential run. Although his campaign has come to an end, it is clear that with his grassroot support, this "revolution" is just beginning.

Paul Update Feb. 25th-Mar 1st
We have to give Ron Paul credit for staying in the Republican race. It looks like McCain has the nomination for sure, but Paul seems to be going strong. He has raised a total of over $6 million this quarter alone.
All throughout this election most people forgot that Paul was a congressman from the 14th district in Texas. He is starting to get nervous since his challenger, Chris Peden, portrays himself as everything the incumbent isn't: a loyal, mainstream conservative Republican. You think since Paul was running for President he would have more support from his district. Paul bowed out of a big Houston energy forum to focus on his congressional reelection in the short time remaining before the Texas primary March 4. If he prevails in the Texas primary and becomes the Republican nominee to return to Congress, his burden will be much lighter, enabling him to rededicate himself to the presidential race. paul has refocused his attention onto his congressional campaign where he is shown ahead in some polls, but we all know how those polls can be wrong.
Ron Paul has the answers, but nobody is listening. Isn't it funny how people are so afraid of change? So far many of Paul's supporters have been speaking out on why Paul is the best man for the President. I wonder if people are even hearing? I guess we will all find out in the primaries on Tuesday.

Paul Update Feb. 18-24
On February 18th, Paul further showed his consistent support and plans to stick out the race when he gained over 10,000 signatures (the minimum being 2,000) to be placed on the Pennsylvania primary ballot (the Pennsylvania Republican Primary will take place on April 22). He told CNN, "I will stay in as long as my supporters want me to. And I say as long as the number of volunteers continues to grow, and the money comes in, and there are primaries out there, and they want me to be involved, I am going to stay involved." Supporters are undoubtedly continuing to show support as demonstrated at a University of Texas rally where over 4,000 students participated. Currently, Ron Paul has 14 delegates for the National Convention.
Regarding the recent resignation of Fidel Castro, Paul, who resides on the House Foregin Relations Committee, responded by saying "Fidel Castro was a brutish dictator who for fifty years robbed the Cuban people of their liberty. While his resignation does not mean the end of communism in Cuba, it is good to see him go."

Paul Update feb. 10th - 17th
Ron Paul is still going strong and keeping in the Republican race, despite the fact that McCain seems to be the clear nomination. Paul has recieved over $6 million this quarter and a number of supporters. What proves to be interesting is the top three contributors to Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul’s campaign are from the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. Paul has the support of our nation’s brave servicemen and women, shouldn't that influence some of the American people to believe that he is the man for the job?
Ron Paul called for stricter adherence to the Constitution during an impassioned speech about his political ideologies on Feb. 13 at Georgetown University. He positioned himself as leader of a revolution that would tout a return to constitutional principles with a small federal government, no income tax and more concentration on domestic, rather than foreign, matters. Since Paul is still in the race, does he have a chance for the vice president ticket? Paul, finally, has no chance at all to be the running mate. McCain wouldn't offer him the spot, nor would Paul take it if it were offered.. Paul will not even endorse McCain unless the latter "has a lot of change-of-heart" on the issues, and McCain is not noted for ever changing his heart or mind on anything. So if Paul does not get the nomination, he will not be the vice-president.
But Paul is very excited for the March 4th primary of Ohio and Texas. He may have a good turnout in the Texas primary since he is a congressman from there.

Paul Update Feb. 4-Feb. 9
Despite his "only one" theory, Paul unfortunately only won 5% of the votes in Arkansas and 6% in Tennessee. However, Paul's numerous endorsements from North Dakotans clearly helped him to get third place at 21% of the votes (behind Romney and McCain and ahead of Huckabee). Furthermore, Paul won three out of eighteen delegates in West Virginia. These three are said to have been secured by an agreement with the Huckabee campaign. After Super Tuesday, Paul has secured over forty-two delegates for the national convention. Still, Paul continues to gain endorsements, the newest coming from University of Chicago professor and suicide terrorism expert Robert Pape. Pape will become Paul's new Foreign Policy Advisor.
On the 8th, Ron Paul released a new message in which he stated that he would continue "to fight on" while making his campaign staff "leaner and lighter," for there is "now no need for a big national campaign staff." Also, Paul insisted that he is "committed to fighting for ideas within the Republican Party," so he will NOT run as a third-party candidate--"I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican." However, Paul will run again for his congressional seat in Texas.

Paul Update Jan 28th-Feb 3rd
Ron Paul's new tv ad labels him as the "only one," running in Tennesee and Arkansas. He is pushing for how his record of a fiscal conservative is unmatched and he is the taxpayers best friend. Does anyone know who Arlo Guthrie is? I am sure you do, he is the legendary folk singer-songwriter who just endorsed Ron Paul for President saying he is the only man that follows the constitution. Endorsements have been flying in for all candidates and Paul has recieved many of them from prominent people. Also Paul has recieved many endorsements from a wide range of North Dakotans leading up to the Republican caucus on Febuary 5th and he has recieved the most amount of Montana contributers. As well as the American Conservative Magazine endorsed Ron Paul. Quarter four for Ron Paul showed that he recieved more military donations than any other 3 Republican candidates combined. This truly shows that the troops support Ron Paul and his fight against the Iraq war. Paul has received 1160 donations from military donors, nearly triple that of John McCain, and more than McCain, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee combined.
So far this quarter, Paul has raised over $5.2 million and his goal is to raise up to $8.5 million. Paul is good at matching his financial goals and surpassing them. Paul recieved 19% of the vote in the Maine caucus coming in third place behind Romney and McCain, but beating Huckabee. With all of these endorsements and the large amounts of money, can we see a surprise victory for Paul on Super Duper Tuesday?

Paul Update Jan 21-27
On Martin Luther King Day, Congressman Paul released a statement saying that voters "have the opportunity to choose a candidate who will uplift the ideals for which Dr. King fought—and died...the fight for freedom," while also raising 1.85 million dollars. Furthermore, Paul was endorsed by supporters including former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, Norma McCorvey ("Jane Roe" of Roe v. Wade), and prominent investment advisor Don Luskin. Days later, Don Luskin along with Peter Schiff was named Paul's new economic advisors, while John Tate was named national political director and Mark Elam was named national media director. On the 24th, Paul released a new economic plan that calls for tax, spending, monetary and regulatory reform. At the Florida debate this weekend, Paul demonstrated and emphasized how he is the only real Republican running, because he is the only candidate who has stuck by the party principles of protecting individual freedoms, a balanced budget, smaller government, and the strict following of the Constitution. On January 26th, the Paul Campaign issued a challenge to the credentials of delegates of the Lousiana party convention, with Paul's campaign manager saying, “The initial failure of the Louisiana GOP to properly determine who was and wasn’t eligible to vote threw this entire process into disarray. However, voter eligibility was just one of many irregularities with the caucus process. We are filing this contest to ensure that we can challenge the results if it appears that delegates were improperly selected.”

Paul Update Jan 14-20
There are no signs of dropping out for Ron Paul. On January 14th, he opened four additional offices in Illinois. He is hoping that these offices will help him with the already overwhelming support in Illinois for the primary on Febuary 5th. In August 2007, Paul pulled a strong third with 19% of the vote. In South Carolina he drew over 600 hundred people at Bob Jones University. His message of freedom, peace, and prosperity connected with the college students and faculty. There were so mnay supporters at the rally that hundreds were sitting outside just to hear his message. In the Michigan primary on January 15th Paul pulled in at fourth place with 6% of the vote. Also, in the South Carolina primary he pulled in at fifth place with 4% of the vote. Unfortunately, he was not high in the pulls in South Carolina and Michigan, but he did come in second place in the caucus in Nevada. He lost to Romney with 14% of the vote. Paul defied recent pulls in the Nevada caucus by coming in second compared to his fourth, fifth and sixth finishings. Nevada has secured the Paul community to stay in the race after passing front-runners like McCain, Giuliani, Thompson and Huckabee.
Will Paul's popularity stick with the American people? We will have to wait and see in the Florida primary next week, but as of now he is continuing to gain money and support from around the United States.

Paul Update Jan. 7-13
In the New Hampshire primary, Paul won approximately 8% of the vote. Because of this small percentage, many rumors spread that voter fraud had occurred in the primary. However, Paul responded saying, "I carefully considered the arguments for and against a recount before instructing my campaign staff not to pursue it. Without a firm belief that vote fraud had taken place, and without the possibility that a recount would have increased the chances for success of our campaign, a recount would have diverted campaign resources, time, and energy away from crucial battles elsewhere." Prior to New Hampshire, Paul responded to a comment John McCain made (that "he would be fine with keeping American troops in Iraq for 100 or even 1 million years") suggesting that "his comments recklessly put America at risk as such a statement will likely serve as a recruiting tool for Bin Laden and Al Qaeda." Currently, Paul runs a tight race with Guiliani for fourth place; however, Paul is not giving up. This next week, Paul will be in Nevada campaigning before the Caucus on the 19th.

Paul Update Dec 31st-Jan 6th
Paul seems to be gaining much popularity throughout this election. On December 31st he won in an Oklahoma straw poll recieving more that 44% of the vote with Fred Thompson in second with 17%. Paul had record support his fourth quarter in donations exceeding his initial goal of $12 million to over $20 million. He was able to raise $20 million in the time of three months, October, November and December. The fourth quarter campaign had over 130,000 donors of which 107,000 were new donors. Paul's total is $9 million more than any other Republican candidate for the third quarter. Paul is so confident that he is expanding his support with new radio and television ads to run in eight more states with upcoming primaries. Ads will air in Alabama, California, Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Lousiana, Maine and North Dakota. On January 3rd in the Iowa caucus, Paul came in 5th place with 10% of the vote and on January 5th in the Wyoming caucus he came in 4th place with 0% of the vote. Fox news unfairly excluded Ron Paul from their forum/event on January 6th, so instead Pual has decided to host his own forum tonight with undecided voters in New Hampshire. Paul believes he has the support and the ability to win in New Hampshire.
